The las people I would want influencing my kids are church leaders. I wouldn’t let my kids alone with those people for a second.

Brilliant idea. Only challenge is that there are a lot of panelists for the 2 1/2 hour a session. It may be difficult to get substantive responses since each person will probably try to answer each comment from the audience.

It is curious to me why this forum has been put together for the educators, clergymen and anyone who works with children? Why not the children themselves? Why isn’t there a forum or class for children in schools that not only teaches them what healthy childhood should look like but what why should expect from their parents? And why is it that a child psychotherapist of exceptional reputation is not one of the primary speakers. You need people tot all who actually participate in healing directly. Most people don’t have a clue as to what it takes to heal childhood neglect or abuse. These forums seem to be good for one thing and one thing only is more and more conversation. We know what the problem is but still nothing significant is ever done. There is too much talk and not enough action. Its exhausting. And why is is that parents are also not attending this? Parenting is the biggest psychological failure in the world. Abuse, neglect, incest and many other things are common in Bermuda as they are thought the world. Why is that healing is not being talked about and why is it that healing is not a psychological standard in Bermuda society? There n meds to be a how to section of every form where people are taught how to change lives..the average human being doesn’t have a clue how to be human to another person and if the opposite was true we wouldn’t have this situation. Also will they be talking about the role of the family and how family is also a failure? Will they talk about the negative effects of slavery and how that has influenced black men and their approach to fatherhood? Will they talk about mens issues and how men are not given a voice in society? There are deep issues that need to be discussed if we are doc change anything.

Reminds me of a Documentary I saw about young juvenile elephants terrorizing an African village and they bought in mature male elephants which put them in oder and returned the village to peace.

As a 40-something year old male who was also raised in a single parent home, I can say that this is a great idea. I only wish this was available to me 30-something years ago.

Excellent idea, a forum…. many of our young people need to have the opportunity to tap into sources like this. Hope-fully this will be done on a monthly basis, also an established 24 hour hot-line. The contact informat ion needs to be put out there, and there also needs to be a place that peop le can come to. Further this needs to happen at various parts of the Islan d, our schools can be utilized evenings.
