If you give of your personal time to represent Bermuda by serving in the Regiment Band, why shouldn’t you have a “perk” of flying abroad to represent the island you have been serving in rehearsal?
In actual fact they will be rehearsing in Jamaica too- plus performing, and any musician will tell you it is hard work to rehearse and perform in the first place- as well as rehearse with another band and perform with them on top of you own repertoire. So as a Bermudian YES they NEED to go to Jamaica. If you see this as a “free trip” at taxpayer expense, then you need to join the regiment and see how “free” it really is!
