Having slid on oil myself, you realize you have no traction, your car gracefully keeps going in whatever direction it happens to be going, you completely freak when you realize you’re not in control and then bam, the oil ends and your tires have grip. The effect is similar to jamming breaks and yes you can easily roll.

When it happened to me I used the lesson from the kids movie Cars and steered into the skid which is the opposite to what your instincts are screaming and at the end of the skid the car pops into the correct direction.

Thank goodness the driver was ok.

And all you critics and cynics out there, careful what you write as one day it could happen to you.

These are the facts – She wasn’t texting, speeding or under any undue influence. She slid on oil and the car flipped. This has been stated multiple times above but people insist on creating their own story. This was a person who could have been seriously hurt. I wonder what you would say if your loved one was driving.

Your a jerk n your comment is unnecessary I saw what happened n the “lady” was very shook up its Bermuda roads driving while they are wet that is dangerous n caused it her car slide out! She was completely sober n not speeding because she would have been dead!

Ok so there was heavy raining, meaning we should have been driving extra careful. People need to drive safely according to the environmental conditions. Drivers let there guard down because they drive down the same roads thousands of times and lose respect for the road, other people, and their vehicles power. If someone does not know that a new rain after a dry spell lifts oil/gas above the concrete- should not be on the road until they understand some basic safety principals.

At 10:00 it was raining in my neighbourhood, and the road by Mangrove Bay has numerous fissures due to the lack of re-surfacing/maintenance.. Oil and water that has gathered in the fissures flushes out when it rains and as oil slicks on the road surface… you have the recipe for an accident.

As it dries out…the oil/water retreats, so the road’s no longer as slippery.

And as for being on its roof… Autocar (UK) tested this model back in 2005 and it flipped over when reversing round a corner.

The car slid and rolled up the embankment causing the rollover. This could happen at 35kph easily. Those little cars have a high center of gravity – especially with a couple hundred pounds of human inside. Give them a break geniuses!

if sliding on some material, the transition off the material would NOT be abrupt, so no roll

An oil slick are you kidding me?!?! Not speeding? You mean not doing 70 but maybe 55?! That would not flip a car doing 35k an hour. When is anyone ever going to be at fault for these “single vehicle collisions”? As long as there are these blind validations of innocence, our roads will not be safe.

It must have dried up by the time the emergency vehicles showed up to clean up the mess because there’s absolutely no sign of it the pictures.

You sure it wasn’t a cat that ran in front of her? Or maybe it was a ‘medical condition’ or a sudden gust of wind, or her brakes went out.

Well, apparently there was another driver following behind this vehicle who witnessed the entire incident. The driver of the green car was NOT speeding and when turning down the corner, slit on diesel or some type of oil. The witness too, apparently slid on the oil. Eat your Cracker Jacks in the corner.

I don’t know the cause of this wreck, but after witnessing MANY close calls on the roads just yesterday alone, with drivers and riders moving at RIDICULOUS speeds, sadly this trend of cars overturning, landing on verges of the coastline and the like, will continue and get worse!

I live in Sandys and travel on this road. I can’t for the life of me understand how this constantly happens. I believe a white station flipped about a year ago in this same location. What gives????
