@ Mr. Meoff, we get it that you don’t care. However, when you come across an accident such as this one and you haven’t previously witnessed anyone travelling like they don’t have regard for their life or the lives of others, what do you then. The problem with your comment is that Joe Public cannot look at an accident and determine who caused it as a result of carless and total disregard; we have to care.

Just as most of would if we came across you involved in an accident.

Problem Mr.Meoff is that some of these reckless drivers end up taking down innocent pedestrians or other motorists. Just recently we had that tragic case of the young lady struck down and killed due to a driver being reckless.

This is why the powers that be need to cut it out with the usual messages and try a different tack. There’s only so much that law-abiding drivers and pedestrians can do.

I don’t feel sorry for idiots who have zero regard for their life and the lives of others. When they crash, well serves them bloody right, I don’t feel the least sorry for them. Let them all splatter themselves to walls, trees, and other very hard immoveable fixtures. I’m on the road all the time and quite frankly when they pass me doing MOC 7, I say, well he has an urgent appointment with the hospital or the morgue.
A couple of times I come upon an accident involving some innocent motorist and the idiot/idiots that 5 minutes ago past me doing MOC 7. Do you know what I say to them as I drive past, “serves you right, hope it hurts A*% HOLE”

Speed kills drivers, passengers and other motorists. These guys were all lucky. When I was younger I never saw an overturned car, or a bike in that state. We didn’t drive that fast! Reckless driving kills drivers, passengers and other motorists. On my drive into work this morning, no less than 4 bikes passed me, going at least 70kph. These were not car-skipping one at a time, these were rocket bikes going the wrong way down the oncoming lane. I see cars doing teh same thing at least once a week. These guys don’t slow down for anyone. A regular occurrence, unfortunately. What can we do? If the police don’t intervene, shall the rest of us start taking offensive actions instead of evasive?? Ask the truck/bus drivers to stay their course and let the speeders decorate their front grills?

How about installing a few cameras around the island to identify the dangerous driving and speeding.

Just the other day I was on my bike in steady traffic heading home after work. I had a van tailgating me very close. They ended up overtaking on an unsighted corner and forced the car coming the other way to brake sharply.

15 mins later when I turned into my house the same van was still directly in front of me (ie they hadn’t made up any time at all). They’d been tailgating the car in front the whole way, repeatedly surging towards them and then braking.

What’s the hurry Bermuda?

Hope everyone recovers, however accidents on Bermuda’s roads are happening way too often. We call these ‘accidents’ but really it is reckless driving with no thought of their or anyone else’s life. Overtaking, alcohol, drugs, texting, inattention , cell phone chat and a host of other things cause ‘what we call accidents’ Not making a judgment call on any of these people…I’m just saying. I think more harsher fines, disqualification and the point system really needs to be enforced. Do the police still patrol the streets, and if they do they should make themselves visible, which, I am sure will deter the recklessness on our tiny winding roads.

Doesn’t surprise me anymore, the way people drive, always in a hurry to go nowhere. If the Police showed more of a presence on the streets travelling with traffic they could stamp out a lot of this nonsense. Instead we have to dodge crazy drivers on bikes, in cars, trucks and even buses that travel way too fast for our roads. Get a grip Bermuda, slow the hell down.

I have never seen an accident where the bike is so demolished, someone was traveling at a very high rate of speed here, like most of us on the road see many times daily. How are we going to get drivers to realize they have to slow down?

Hope all injured are on the mend. Police will do their investigations and determine the cause of the collision. Looking at this scene, almost makes me want to stop driving. People do need to get from point A to point B. Mos t folks operating motor vehicles have good driving habits, whether its a 20 minute drive or driving for a living. These collisions occur in less than 5 seconds, so we do need to be vigilant all the time. Efforts need to be made to heighten the presence of the police. Our hard working police, fire, ambu lance crews,and hospital staff need to be encouraged and thanked for the wo rk they are called to do. There is a lot more activity going on now, than 15 years ago, and public service resources are limited.
