Isle of Man 236 police officers policing a population of 86,000 people and a land mass of 362 square miles. Guernsey 186 police officers policing a population of 67,500 people and a land mass of 30 square miles. Bermuda 450 police officers policing a population of 64,000 people and a land mass of 21 square miles. Mr Deacon it is a well known fact that Bermuda has one of the largest police forces in the world per capita. Even after its budget cuts. Appears to be more of a deployment issue when you draw comparison to the other two Islands mentioned.

You know what puzzles me…in the comments I see a whole lot of finger pointing, but no suggestions or solutions.

Don’t believe this violence is a Government problem…it is a Bermuda problem, and until we stop finger pointing and work together for a solution it will continue and get worse.

I live in Middle Town and this neighborhood has not had any problems for the last couple years the boys do not hang around here because we are a community and family and we got them out of our neighborhood. For the record majority of the residents actually have jobs and were at work and our kids in school. Our neighborhood doesn’t define who we are!!! More than half of the houses in Middle Town are owned by the families that reside in them. When you come around here you see kids outside playing enjoying life like any other neighborhood. Not everyone that lives in this neighborhood sells drugs or are gangsters. How do you know the neighbors didn’t talk to the police? Were you here to see or hear anyone refuse to cooperate? If you don’t live here don’t judge us half of you all have never even been in Middle Town so how do you pass judgment on us!!! THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE JUDGE AND HIS NAME IS GOD!!!!

How are these guns and ammunition getting into Bermuda? Who is in charge of keeping guns, ammunition and drugs from entering into Bermuda? I wish the good Minister would review the goings on within Customs. Why does part of Cuatoms fall under the Finance Minister and some of Cuatoms fall under the Miniister of National Security? Sounds like a complete clusterf***. So many Government Departments struggle without the additional complication of two Ministers….Guns, ammunition, cocaine, heroin, etc…. None of it is manufactured in Bermuda. What is the Collector of Customs doing to secure the borders?
