Work out the cost per mile to fly to Miami and then work out the cost per mile to fly to the UK. You cannot expect someone to pay the same for 3,500 miles as someone flying 800 miles! it is cheaper per mile to fly on BA to the UK. The tickets are not that expensive it is the airport taxes at both ends that cause the high cost. these are frequently more than the ticket! Also British Airways has never killed anyone. The US airlines all have!

Dear Mr. Colm Lacy
I congratulate BA on their new terminal for our use at Gatwick Airport. My appeal today is for BA to establish a student airfare rate for our students attending school in the UK.

Many of our children attend University in the UK and the present airfare cost is prohibited. We pay as much as $1500. for a round trip ticket via BA.
I speak to many parents, like myself, who could not afford to bring back our children for Christmas last year because of the high BA airfare cost.

There are some families with 2 or more children at school in the UK that have not seen their children in over 15 months because of the high cost.
Establishing a student rate would be a great financial assistance for us with children studying in the UK.

Thanking you in advance for your valuable consideration towards we parents and students studying abroad.

How about working with residents who live in Bermuda to lower the costs of travel to and from the UK?

If BA really want to improve the travel experience, they should have the Bermuda flights come into Heathrow. Gatwick is useless for connections to the rest of Europe (unless you want to fly UnEasy Jet)
