some of these groups are giving off the impression that they truly formed by those who cannot succeed at ANYTHING else and are simply a thorn in the side for the sake of being contrary!!!

stick to a general theme instead of picking an annual topic with so many unanswered previous topics.

Yes the Eco School programme is great and should be publicised, funded etc……..stop picking waffle for a platform though. it doesn’t inspire confidence in the public who ultimately benefit from lobbyist groups like Greenrock

Oh yes, that is the answer. Let’s nationalize BELCO and the folks that run the Government so well, with their well known standards of excellence and efficiency, will, I am sure, do a far superior job since they can’t ever be fired when they scr*w up and face no accountability for their actions. I have no doubt that the same folks who fail to have enough parts on hand to keep our bus fleet up and running will surely not do the same with utility poles and transformers come the annual hurricane season!

FYI the Government/Department of Energy do not make the decisions re.future purchase of electricity generation technology e.g. LNG. Your solution to influencing BELCO’s decisions in this regard (re. future investment in electricity generation)by nationalization of the utility is regressive thinking. You should do some more research on the history of public owned utilities and what is happening with LNG in the region (even in Carbon War Room influenced countries) you may reconsider your position. There is no “silver bullet” despite what anyone tells you.

I agree that we should be looking at greener ideas, but knock it off on the blue halo nonsense. Do some good and make some suggestions on how we could actually enforce the great laws that we already have.

What about the raw sewage being pumped directly into our ocean where our tourists swim that you have written about in the past? That won’t go away by itself.

I don’t understand why Greenrock has dropped this topic and what is being planned around energy generation. Why no mention of your wonderful world-class educational programme Eco-Schools? How is our Bermuda Government funding this or offering this into all areas of public education?

We are being bulldozed by BELCO and The Department of Energy into a pathway of Liquid Natural Gas or LNG and the false optics of community engagement while dismissing alternative models offered by the Carbon War Room options funded by Sir Richard Branson available to all small island states.

This was confirmed by the Pecha Kucha talk give last night by the Director of the Department of Energy. As long as BELCO remains in private hands, we will be lead by shareholder value and profit over community service and fairness.

Once again Bermuda leadership and our top civil servants endorse money over meaning.
