Satellites re-transmit the signals sent to them.
Satellite dishes collect signals and feed them to receivers. If there is heave rainfall, the microwave signals transmitted by the satellites are absorbed, resulting in a loss of signal at the receiving end.

I still rate Cablevision. They always had good customer service which was much better than the competition. Cablevision also scheduled their installs unlike the competition.

10 thumbs up to the Cablevision team for helping to pave the way for Bermuda. Now it’s time to push that DOCSIS standard to 50Mb and beyond for early 2017.

An authority to regulate this industry already exists, its the Regularity Authority believe it or not. Between themselves and the Department of Consumer Affairs its time to start bombarding them with complaints!

Cablevision (now One Communications) is just as bad, blacked out channels, dropped channels, programming guide doesn’t match what is being broadcast etc. etc.

Poor quality of service stems from complacency (both from the consumer and supplier)…………which appears to be a contagion in Bermuda!

Cell one, cablevision, Keytech, Logic, “one” whatever name they are going by this month sucks beyond belief, possibly the worst bar none carrier / group I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, im pinning my hopes on the completion to provide honest clean and reliable services

Yes but during peak season you should only expect to receive 8/5 customer care. Kinda like the internet speeds they sell. They can sell one thing, and deliver something slightly less.

Good news. However, what I as a consumer would like to see someone protect the consumer.

The mere fact that we pay far more that any other region for far less is disgusting enough. However, in addition we are asked to pay top dollar for 10 megs and told we should accept 4 or 5 during peak hours. What consumers need is the telecommunication board or consumer affairs or some government department to make these service providers deliver what the sell! If you are selling 10 megs than 10 megs should be the worst speed I as a consumer should get…not the f’n best I should hope for except at 4am when nobody in my neighborhood is using it!

Can you imagine if BELCO said we can deliver 120V to you home except between peak hours. However, you will have to pay for the same. Imaging if Cablevision charged us for 100 channels and said during peak hours you should be happy with the 50 or so you get during peak hours. Okay, I guess that was a bad example cause it happens…but you get the picture.

There is a gentleman by the name of Mr. R. Seymour (not sure of his first name) and he recently did a report of ISP speeds versus cost amongst many of islands in 2014 and again 2016. Some of these islands had smaller populations than Bermuda. Every single country except Bermuda saw a massive increase in speeds offered (up to 1000 megs) or aa decrease in charges OR BOTH.

Its crazy what we are asked to pay for what the deliver and even crazier that as little as they offer, they don’t even deliver.

It’s about time. I have been waiting for this. Bermuda telecom companies always seem to be behind the eight (8) ball. I can now see the other players in the market now breaking their necks to play catch up. Wow. I can’t wait to have my dedication fibre service where I do not have to be sharing bandwidth with anyone else, so I will be actually getting what I am paying for. Ready to switch once it becomes available….. roll ob baby.

Bermuda connects partially everywhere and we can’t get one good provider. Installing fibre will make a slight difference. I like to say to people you can play a 4k video on a tube TV and expect it to be HD same thing applies here if you install great fibre with no hiccups you still have to send great speeds the it

No… no one will say well done when they’ve been soaking customers for years and providing sub-par service. When compared with services in other jurisdictions One (and all three of the previous entities) were at least a decade behind in tech while still charging prices almost 4x what one would expect to be charged elsewhere. However, because of limited competition (also charging ridiculous rates) consumers had very little ability to affect market change. So no… no one will say well done for an investment that should have been made a very long time ago. Let’s not forget they’ve yet to disclose their new pricing structure which will almost guarantee that the costs are passed on to the consumer.
