there appears to have been a lack of oversight by the health authorities, so not should the board be held accountable, but also the government. Let’s keep it real. This Island does not have 150 rest homes, 400 schools yet the Government that grants operating licences, should have had 4 or 5 checks a year minimum. The cost of the current situation is an additional cost to the taxpayer……someone needs to reimburse the public purse, SOMEONE NEEDS TO REIMBURSE THE PUBLIC PURSE!!!!!

This is a bold step for Government to take over the reins of a Bermuda Registered Charity and a courageous move for Ms. Jackson to step into a clearly difficult situation – one that placed residents in harms way.

It will be important for residents and the broader community to know that Sumerhaven residents are safe and the plan to get Summerhaven in back in shape.

How far out of compliance is Summerhaven and what are/have been the risks to residents?

Was there not a reputable charity and leader available to take over Summerhaven assets and programmes?

This action begs the big question: How many housing programmes are there on island for our vulnerable populations, what level of services are they providing and who monitors them?
