Woman Charged With Stealing From Senior

February 27, 2017

Appearing in Magistrates Court, a 52-year-old American woman faced charges alleging she used various methods to steal over $55,000 from a senior citizen.

Ms Melissa Burton — said in Court to be a U.S. citizen with a Sag Harbor, NY address — faced multiple charges, and as they were deemed to be indictable, Ms Burton was not required to enter a plea.

The charges alleged that between November 2016 and December 2016, Ms Burton had used various methods to move over $55,000 from the account of the late Katherine Trimingham.

Ms Burton was also charged with abusing a senior via financial exploitation.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted bail at $50,000 with one like surety, and required the defendant to re-appear in Court  tomorrow morning.
