After willingly allowing their previous leader to repeatedly berate and perversely humiliate women in public on multiple occasions, the PLP has somehow now in less than a year become the party concerned about women?? Seriously!!! LMAO!

Why the silence back when Bean verbally attacked women?

Why the silence over the commission of enquiry?

Your commentary lacks depth. It’s so much more than politics and in Bermuda it is our Bermudian men who suffer as much if not more so to single out women in Bermuda as a cause is ill.considered by plp. We have no shortage of women in power.
I applaud the brave women who are leaving Bermuda for a better life, more should leave then at least their kids will have a chance in the real world. Why do you see them as victims? To further your plp agenda?
Gulfstream, whose idea was it? Why did plp not fix it back when?? Health care? We are too tiny to offer it but guess what it is free in our mother country, the one plp wants to break free from.
If the plp wants a real agenda it should focus on cost of living and living wage…That benefits us all as Bermudians….There is much that can be furthered on that yet you waste time on women having tea.

It is such a shame you are so misdirected. Have you not been listening to the news this week about your party? Is there a perfect political party, absolutely not, but surely you want to believe that the governing party can be trusted to handle the taxpayers money with respect and caution.
Why is there never responsibility placed upon individuals? Why are women having babies when the fathers of these babies are not being responsible enough to take care of their children or to pay the costs of bringing them into the world? We have become lost in everything being government’s responsibility. Teach women to become educated, to focus on careers and to be responsible for their minds and their bodies and you will eradicate a major part of this country’s social ills.

An employer faced with 13 weeks maternity leave potentially every year or two might well avoid hiring women who of that age. At a minimum it would impact career prospects.

I love this idea of getting more healthcare benefits for less money. I wonder what planet that is happening on.

Good luck with that. The PLP government abandoned its National Health Plan just before the 2012 election because actuarial analysis indicated it was financially unfeasible. They and other members of the community did months of work on the plan, but it was for naught, because Bermuda couldn’t afford it. And, by the way, it was as close to the National Health Service in the UK as it could get, meaning that the provision of healthcare would come from government. A frightening thought for many.

Liana, You are a smart girl. This is a bad letter. You tried to make this look like it was about Women, when really this is about politics. Promising to do things that you know full well we don’t have the funds for is a PLP staple……. and you have continued the trend. The PLP are full of good people, who unfortunately do not have the tools to run a country. The OBA also has a large number of numty’s but they are leaps and bounds ahead of the PLP. This country’s politics are disgusting, and are essentially based on individual egos. Not many politicians are actually concerned with the real issues of Bermuda, rather just focused on getting elected. I hope one day you grow and see politics in Bermuda for what they are…….. a farce.

The OBA pledged in 2012 to “reduce healthcare costs”. Over four years later, these costs have risen, squeezing employers and employees alike and forcing employers to reduce coverage or let employees go. Without employment, a woman likely has no health insurance. Without employment how does a mother feed her children?
