Policing also requires intellect which is not the exclusive province of people who are 6 feet!

Any chance that height and weight requirements were deemed as discriminatory? Like you suggest, there’s a certain something that say a 5’0″ officer lacks the physical presence of someone closer to 6′, but one could say, if you can pass the physical training requirements, then size may not matter?

I must admit that I wondered about that too. When I joined the cut-off age was 30, but admittedly that was over 50 years ago!
There also used to be a minimum height and weight requirement, which I think they were daft to scrap. Bottom line, a Police officer’s job is to maintain law and order, and a certain physical presence is always an advantage…

Seriously why is the cut off age 49? The cut off age should be much earlier. At 49 you can only give service for 6 years. That’s not a career at tha age. That’s midlife crises. I do however like the idea of recruiting locals though.
