David Burt is certainly the face of the PLP , but far from the leader, and closer to what you describe as a surrogate leader. Marc had leadership qualities but rubbed to many people the wrong way and had too much of a chip on his shoulder for many with the PLP and the community in general. Burt is a more likeable guy, but lacks the backbone to be a real leader and takes instructions and advice from elsewhere. Too bad ,because if he stopped taking directions from others and spoke from the heart, he might not be a bad leader. Unfortunately, he like Paula Cox, are used to take the fall for others making the calls.

I would say based on the increased tourism, rebuilding of numerous hotels, a large sporting event that provides massive exposure, halving the PLP $400mn deficit, reigning in healthcare costs (first decrease in decades this year) etc. are good things.

But hey Bermuda is another world I guess where massive deficits, massive unemployment, mountains of debt and the closure of businesses is viewed as good governance by some.

the alliance is finished. the election will be called before the no confidence debate so Crockwell can’t air the dirty laundry for all to hear for themselves. Either way my M8 Crockwell forced the OBA to pull the trigger. UBP effed up the alliance, didn’t want to listen to reason, so you must feel. As a resident in that area I tend to agree. We got an email early in the term but that’s it. Apparently the PLP have begun some canvassing in the area already but have yet to meet their rep.

Baron brings an interesting dynamic, it must be said, and he’ll likely retain the ‘usual support’. But will people who feel disenchanted by Pettingil’s doings want to stay the course or swap over?

Do you think the OBA are only focussed on the America’s Cup. Lets prepare for an election as predicted by the PLP.

One option is for Premier Dunkley to simply call the election before June 9th and avoid the risk of losing the no confidence vote, thereby causing more embarrassment for the OBA!!

PLP needs to win 3 clear seats to become government. Based on the announcement, MP David Burch picks up the first one.

Any comments on winners for St. Georges #1 and #2?
