Trisha, Bermuda hasn’t had a Cat 4 or Cat 5 hit us, Fabian was the worst to of hit us in over half a century & it was only a Cat 3 yet it put the hurt on us. Spanky isn’t too far off on his predictions (& yes, I’m multi-generational Bermudian before you question my status as well).

Sorry but I completely disagree. The RBR (regiment) soldiers are specifically trained to handle natural disasters and the aftermath. Not to mention they have their own vehicles and tools also (here in Bermuda). Not to mention at a fraction of the cost.

You all complain that these ‘wall sitters’ and inmates are doing nothing in Bermuda, but the moment someone has an OPINION about getting them to do something, you are so upset. Are your little boys so incapable of doing anything but sitting in a cell, on a wall or selling drugs? A mother can’t tell her child to go out and help? Government can’t arrange for less offence prisoners to be brought out to do for the community who is paying for their meals? Can no man, after clocking out of his regular job, help a neighbor move branches and other debris? Wow…

What i understood from his argument was only that we are (or were) a people that can come together when we need to…

Please regiment don’t leave us!!!!

What are you bubbling about? Are you Bermdian? Bermuda da has experienced hurricanes that toront before. If you are so afraid get off the Island and come back when the hurricane is over. And helping other in need is a Bermudians thing.

I wouldn’t be too complacent about a Cat 4/5 hurricane. If Bda gets a storm with sustained winds of 150 mph you can count on the majority of slate roofed homes suffering extensive damage. The Causeway will need rebuilding and the airport runway and terminal will sustain damage. Empty shipping containers strewn all over the harbor. Belco power likely to take 6 months to fully restored. We would most definitely need outside help and in a big way.

Everyone chips in to help.

Doesn’t matter what jobs and commitments you have if trees are across South, Middle and North Shore.

Hopefully Jose fizzles out before it reaches land and Irma isn’t too destructive.

Don’t know why the Regiment is used in the first place. The landscaping companies have the equipment have the expertise & can do the job faster cheaper & better than the Regiment whose people have their own fulltime jobs where they are needed.

Our houses our strong enough to withstand Jose. When hurricanes come our way, the community helps out one another. The damage is bad but no where close to what the other islands are experiencing right now, not being able to have nowhere to turn to. Our regiment are NEEDED to help elsewhere. We can handle our own.

Better keep the Bermuda Regiment here just in case till Jose passes then send them down South! It wouldn’t be nice if we got licked by Jose and all our help off the island.
