The ten commandments deal with the things they thought were important. No craven images, no other gods, don’t work on Sundays. Vital things like that.
But no commandment about slavery, because the bible says slavery is perfectly fine. No commandment about pedophilia, because that wasn’t important to them. Abuse children as much as you like, according to the ten commandments, just as long as you don’t forget to worship the right imaginary superbeing.

then why does this government concentrate of preventing gay people from getting married…and make no mention of the actual social problems in Bermuda? Is it because they’re bigots? selfish? hypocrites?

While there is an undercurrent of separation of ‘church and state’, it does not equate to exclusion of church. The faith community have a definite role to play in helping to curb and eliminate anti social behavior.

When the state faces a catastrophe, who do we run to for assistance?

there are over 150 Houses of Faith (HOF) in Bermuda

1 many are in prime locations and thus make good meeting grounds and community action points
2. many have funds and individuals that can be mobilized to action quickly
3 many have mandates to meet the needs of the community
4 many church members have family members that are caught up in the gang life or have had negative experiences with the life
5 many HOF have money set aside for community out reach
6 many have congregants who are trained to serve and are ready to serve

those are just quick points

many just see blind sheep, but there is a phenomenal opportunity to encourage a resource rich community to meet the pressing needs as apposed to simply talking about or preaching about the problem
