Good intentions but it won’t mean a thing until the two biggest stumbling blocks are removed: the Department of Education and the Bermuda Union of Teachers. The former consist of failed teachers shuffling paper clips and stifling progress, the latter ensure that no teacher is ever fired for poor performance. The private schools,who offer a quality education for less money than that spent on public education, pay only lip service to the D of E and are not unionized.
