You are correct that the letter is not needed for a plural but I believe it is required in this case. It is “Monday’s collection” like “Zevon’s collection” for example. I stand to be corrected if I’m indeed wrong.

My area USA Orlando we have four garbage pick ups per week. Two for regular garbage and one for household items eg old chairs, couches etc. one for vegetation. One for recycling twice a month. The only 2 days garbage etc. is not picked up are Thanksgiving and Christmas. These services are paid for by the home owner etc. You can pay via the city’s pay site, your bank or regular mail. These services are provided by the city with trucks that are automated(special robotic arm clamps onto garbage can) to pick up the special designed garbage cans. The trucks are fueled by natural gas or electric.

There should be a limit on free use of the buses. Always riding for free is not right. It cost a lot of money to run the bus fleet and the people using it most do not pay.

I know people will say this will further burden the parents but we paid in the past and it seemed like might have had more respect for the service.

There are awful stories of children getting on the bus and getting off one stop away etc. and worse there are adults flouting the rules attempting to pay less for rides than they should. People do not seem to appreciate this government provided transport and it easy to understand. When things are not earned and simply handed to you it is almost impossible to be grateful for them.

Free use should be limited to school days between certain hours after which they should pay. Not only would this boost the earnings of the department it will help our young people understand that IT COSTS A WHOLE HEAP OF MONEY TO RUN BUSES UP AND DOWN THIS LITTLE ISLAND.

Totally agree. We should only have trash collection once a week. We generate far too much waste for a country that doesn’t produce anything and this would help cut government costs so we could start paying off the massive debt.

Truth is this is a case of PLP mismanagement. During their last reign of financial terror they allowed the buses ferries and trash truck fleets to fall into disrepair while racking up the debt on gross overspends. By the time the trash trucks got so bad and they had to replace some of them, they did so with trucks that were approximately 40 percent smaller. This led to more trucks and staff that cost more taxpayer dollars to do the same job. The airport and the sailboat race had nothing to do with this . Just PLP mismanagement I’m afraid !

I think you need revise yourself. The OBA inherited this problem from the PLP. Trucks and schedules were failing at the end of the PLP’s last try at power. Granted, the OBA couldn’t fix this issue and it appears the PLP is about to make it worse.

Bermuda should be very disappointed with our Colonel Burch. While blaming everyone else and telling us how upset he is with them, he never explained why his eye was so far off the pulse of W & E. He is being paid handsomely as Minister and the fault is truly his. After 6 plus months in office he didn’t realize the issues of something that is very important to Bermudians that he was entrusted with. Oh this is good. In 1998 a big deal was made about once a week trash pick up & the sorry state of public education along with other things like tourism, which the PLP claimed that they would fix in 100 days.

19 years later, 14 of them with a PLP Government, we are back to once a week trash pick up, public education no better than 1998 & tourism a little better last year thanks in no small way to Americas Cup which was 100% OBA with the PLP telling them that they were wasting money.

What a laugh this would be if it were not so sad.

It is unfortunate that you believed the PLP election rhetoric on the America’s Cup and the airport. The true benefits for Bermuda were independently revealed before Christmas for AC and the PLP chose not to even comment. We all are awaiting the independent airport report which is not being released by the PLP because it again will make you question everything else that the PLP ‘feed’ you to get elected. I trust that you will be now be able to question your blind following of political propaganda and will going forward do your best to keep the PLP true to their other promises. Education must be dealt with. The PLP need to reach out to all Bermudians to make this economy work again. Please lift yourself out of your spouting untrue rhetoric and put your energy into helping keep the PLP focused on doing good for Bermuda’s future and all of its children. Together, One single Bermuda is the only way we will be successful and a happy country. I believe!

And despite living in the age of instant information I’ll bet every dollar I have that this well informed and aware public will still be putting their trash out as per usual . And it will sit there for days while they wonder what’s going on .

Fully support this being the schedule moving forward. In some areas in US, UK and Canada, trash collection is once every other week. It makes people own their own waste and either reduce it, or take it to the landfill/incinerator themselves.
