I agree. They wanted to give us a decent looking airport to use for the moment. I think that’s a good thing. Don’t understand why people are complaining. The airport looks good now.

Anyway, all of this makes me wonder why this couldn’t couldn’t have been done prior? Why have we spending millions on maintainance and our airports looked like ****? I’m just scared of the new airport going back into the hands of the prior idiots in charge of the soon to be old terminal. Why are we so poor at maintaining buildings?

So the existing airport can be repaired after all. I hope you all remember Dunkley standing in the Cargo terminal, taking video selfie with pouring rain water in the background, as a justification as to why we need a new airport and the many other problems that were talked about as to say they can’t be fixed. All this was to try and convince those of us with brains, that the airport is so far gone that we need a new one now. I say those of us with brains because the OBA’s blind followers, will support just about everything that comes from their shepards so they didn’t need any convincing. Well those of us with brains, were not fooled, we know that we don’t need a new house because our roofs leak, so to use a leaking airport roof, is just and insult to our intelligence. An argument can be made for new airport, whether or not the roof is leaking so it was stupidity on his part, to pull that stunt. The question was never if we needed a new airport but rather, if we we needed one now. The fact of the matter is, the airport was allowed to go into disrepair, to magnify the justification for a new one now. I hear a lot of the Sheep saying that this will lead to more tourist, really? when was the last time any of you took a trip to visit an airport? So that’s a load of BS. So if we didn’t need one now, and I’m convinced that we didn’t, why the urgency? I’ll say this to you lambs following your shepard to the slaughter. Every single person on planet earth is driven by greed, albeit some more than others. I’ll also say this, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. So if you think that your guy isn’t as capable as the next guy of these indiscretions, you’re dumber than I thought.

My house is in a terrible state too, but I aint gonna knock it down and build another one. And just to spend a maximum of 2 hours in, how many times you’ve travelled to countries ( thats if you can leave de island) and said this is an awsome airport, I have to come back to visit this airport. Rubbish. The new police building cost > $110M, and you think you can do a major overhaul for 30M? Have you seen the state of the existing airport? Behind the scenes, not just the public areas? It’s in complete disrepair, and forcing Bermudians to work in awful conditions.

These are cosmetic upgrades, the bare minimum to improve the appearance until the new terminal is ready.

With the exception of relocating to a different physical placement, why are we building a new airport if the current one can be so easily updated? I have been supportive of the new airport since day one, but have always felt as though it was over scoped and more than we needed (and hence more expensive). Now I’m even more concerned as this article seems to imply that repairs were very easy and that even more will be completed. So…what is it that the new airport delivers? Tourists do not fly to countries to experience their airports. What matters is the service they receive when they land (both in terms of timeliness and friendliness). We are an island, a small airport is expected. Is moving to a location further away from the surf the only worthwhile benefit?
