I am a bit late to this article, but I have a question…. Are the Americas Cup generated jobs included in these stats? From reading the PwC impact assessment it states that 53 Bermudians were employed full time by the ACEA, racing teams and the ACBDA. In addition, 450 team members were granted standard work permits. That means that at least 503 jobs were directly generated by the AC event in 2017 let alone the additional workers required in the retail, hotel etc. sectors to cope with increased demand during June 2017.

Based on these stats it would appear that they are have not included??

The OBA sunk themselves with arrogance around America Cup! Remember that the money from that did not go to our govt coffers it went to the few privileged who are also all in the casino business together. Just watch what happens with that and follow the money. I attended the PLP meeting on gaming and from what I saw the OBA has tried to hurt a small Bermuda company lead by a young entrepreneur who was only trying to help our charities and youth and his brothers and sisters. The OBA used this as a distraction to take our eyes off their agenda. A slap in a young entrepreneurs face. Time to march again.

The economy did grow and many people did find employment but you and your crew were expecting the OBA to announce that there were suddenly 2000 new positions that they had created that were available to be filled.
Can’t fix stupid.
And furthermore , had you and your crew not spent every waking minute creating phony fires and fake news that the OBA wasted too much time responding to we’d be in a much better place than we currently are.
But that was the plan all along , right ?

Why would’nt everyone be excited that Bermudians have been given better employment opportunities?

I find it hilarious that all the Sh*t from the OBA’s term, i.e Busses, Garbage trucks gets smeared in the new Gov’t face, but and positive news, it’s Hold up! “We did that!” Mind you they promised 2000, but that’s a whole other story.

for all those who always complain : the foreigners have stolen my job
what is the unemployment rate ( plus actual number ) in Bermuda ?
as per report we have in total 33,653 Jobs on our rock.
Bermudians hold out of this 23,667 Jobs
remaining ( occupied by the evil foreigners ) 9,986 Jobs.

lets make a simple calculation :
in Total ca. 50,000 Bermudians
unemployment rate is high at 7 % = 3,500 jobless people
less those who are unable to work , too young or too old ( average 45 % )
means just 1,925 jobless persons vs 9,986 jobs occupied by foreigners.
I am not talking about qualification , just numbers.
if really all foreigners will be kicked out, Bermuda needs an unemployment rate of 44.38 percent , just to replace.

maybe some of those who still continue to use that phrase might re-consider.

This survey takes place towards at the end of summer annually.

Meaning this increase was due to which Party? And no it won’t be the one that got elected in the middle of July.
