The “problem” here is the “human…” Exotic creatures carry a tremendous responsibility in ownership. The Florida issue (being a prime example) has caused havoc with the Everglades ecosystem. Because of “humans” animals have to be hunted and killed for a variety of reasons because they (the animals) are just trying to survive. All this was created by…yup…unthinking humans. Miss Donna, people do NOT think and therein lies the problem.

The last time a snake was found in Bermuda, I don’t recall the agency but the agency killed the animal. Same with the racoon that was found. It seems this is what would happen to any animal that shouldn’t be in Bermuda.

People need to pay attention! The love for exotic animals, in this case snakes, could present a very serious problem in the future. Look at Florida & the Burmese python problem! They are seriously threatening the eco system. People, please think very carefully about illegal transportation of exotic animals.The consequences would be devastating – and you would be entirely responsible.

Seeing that it’s highly unlikely that it snuck into someone’s golf bag while they were away on vacation it was more than likely smuggled in by someone who has sawdust in between their ears. I’ve actually heard one or two people over the years admit to this.
Like the same fools who buy baby red eared sliders and then let them loose when they got bigger than they thought they would. A little recognized problem that’s as big or bigger than the feral chicken issue.
