Some of these kids come from great parents and great homes however when they get around their peers they act totally different.. I’ve instilled in my kids to turn their backs on confrontation however if they need to defend themselves they must do so..Maybe this kid was defending himself

This is what happens when you take correcting children out of homes & schools. Also stop blaming the parents. You can teach you children & bring them up right. You don’t know what is going to happen when you are not around. A good cut ass will do a lot of them good. I had it & lots of other people y age did also.

This is truly an unfortunate incident and I’m glad no one appears to have been seirously injured. This sort of misbehavior derives from misplaced prioroties and misguidance. Youth are unable to cope with conflict and see “acting out” as the best way to handle disagreements.

Speaking directly to the mass gatherings in town after school, it is no secret that it is the result of having 2 mega high schools. To mitigate the issue, I agree there should be a cutoff time for free bus rides – 4:30 sounds reasonable. That way, the bus terminal won’t be too congested come 5pm.

One potential adverse reaction would understandably come from parents of children who have legitimate reason to access the buses after hours due to extra/co-curricular activities.

The scenes down there yesterday were a disgrace. Thankfully some of the Berkeley staff and the very tall policeman who was off duty were around to break things up.

By the time things were done there were 8-10 cops tied up they arrested one kid…. It’s shameful that we complain about what the police are doing but then they’re tied up babysitting our kids cause they’re behavior is out of control.

One kid was hurling all kinds of abuse at the officers from inside a bus and when he was told to be quiet by the tall officer some family member got in the officers face swearing at him instead of reprimanding the child. It was ridiculous behavior.

I’m all for the kids having free bus rides but wouldn’t cutting it off at say 4.30 during the week mean that they would have to get on the buses and go home instead of hanging around for hours in town.
