Of course what is not accounted for are the secondary businesses which provide goods & services to tourism as well as non tourism customers. A much harder figure to quantify but a significant number of people employed & goods imported for the hospitality industry.

AC35 in 2016 & 2017 provided a great spike in the hospitality industry & many support services. You can be sure that PLP negativity has not been lost potential AC35 related visitors. They like a welcoming atmosphere when they are paying big bucks, not unabashed hate.

And no… this isn’t just a knock on effect from the US economy doing better. Obviously that helps.

But the BTA has Made Bermuda a relevant and exciting tourism destination again.

My livelihood depends on tourism. When it comes to tourism I don’t care about “Party” I simply want results and BTA has been outstanding as their record shows.
I hope Minister Desilva’s comments are simply soundbites to keep the voting base happy — but that he has enough common sense not to send Bermuda backwards by dismantling a hugely successful tourism authority.
