Thats BS, give me my $55,000-$60,000 in my hand, thats the same narrative about Slavery, they lived on de Plantation, ate on de Plantation(well they grew the food), looked after the Plantation owners children and even breast feed them.
But they had shelter, food and clothing.

I would do that for $10 an hour do you realise how many teenagers would work for that much after school or during the weekends. The main problem I believe is cost of goods. I have an internship at a company and I dont want to be at risk of the government drastically raising the minimum wage to where they say ok we will hire 5 interns this year instead of 10 or 12

After listening to this morning’s news on the radio, I now understand that the “Town Hall meetings” are a sham. Rolfe Commissiong has said categorically that there WILL be a Wage Commission and there WILL be a minimum wage that WILL include even hospitality service (tipped) staff.

The inclusion of hospitality service (tipped) staff will require a radical re-think of the way all restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs in Bermuda price their products and pay their staff.

It’s just another way the PLP making Bermuda more expensive. They tax food, tax imports, increase healthcare costs, and now they want to make sure home-grown food and services cost more.

OJ, I have to ask. Do you you actually live in Bermuda? Have you actually met anyone who works for $10 per hour?

If you are referring to domestic help you need to factor in the value of free accommodation and free food into the pay packet. That is more than 60% of most people’s pay. So if that is what you are referring to, the actual taxable emolument is about $55,000 to $60,000 per year. Not a bad income given that there is no educational requirement.

Those who hire people to walk the dog, clean house, wash car, take children to ballet, football games etc, wash clothes, cook food, run erands and Lord knows whatever else for $10 an hour.
And dont forget the cheap labour construction workers, farm hands and chefs.
Even though they get a pay (which is insulting considered to Bermuda’s standard) and probably no benefits its not far from working for free.
Need I say more.

so , lets ban all foreign companies , kick all foreigners out
