The person at the junction of middle road is on a STOP sign… that means stop until it is safe to proceed ! It doesn’t mean stop until you assume someone that someone else is turning.

Northshore through Flatts is a main road and the person on the main road has right of way – regardless of what you may assume. If you come through a stop sign you are at fault if you hit/ are hit by another vehicle.

Drivers here don’t indicate at the best of times, why would you make any assumptions of what they are going to do when they are not actually turning, regardless of what a sign suggests.

I believe there is a sign on North Shore Road, close to the bridge, that actually says to indicate right if you are staying on North Shore Road.

Either way, trusting other drivers to indicate, or not, is foolish. I treat every driver as an idiot. It’s served me well so far.

I will reiterate however that either way you should indicate to declare your intentions as in any situation, because it’s helpful to fellow road users. But your lack of understanding as to what constitutes “right to proceed” is terrifying.

Also there is a sign warning you to indicate it’s on the left just pass the bridge. If you don’t indicate the car on the stop sign don’t know that you are turning right. No wonder there are accidents there. I almost saw it happen again today.

If you are on the stop sign to go toward the aquarium and you are coming on the band to turn onto north shore the person on the stop sign heading toward the aquarium needs to know that you are turning onto north shore. For all you drivers that think that you don’t need to indicate to go to north shore are incorrect I see WHY there are accidents now. Again get it right. Just because it’s a line filling threw the road the people on your left at the stop sign need to know that you are turning. If not you then give them the right to proceed out of the stop sign.

Cars coming toward that intersection do not need to indicate if they are going towards north shore. If you look at the yellow line it continues to North Shore. So the vehicle turning towards North Shore isn’t actually turning off of the main road.

As a caveat I’m aware there is a sign specifying you should indicate for a right turn so you should do as your told. That said, the sign is only there because people don’t know how to drive so it’s better safe than sorry.

Always amazed by the levels of complete ignorance for how roads are meant to work. At this junction North Shore has the right of way and is the main road.

If you are coming off North Shore onto Harrington Sound Road you should indicate left, as you would on any road if you were leaving it to join another. If you are continuing along North Shore towards Flatts you should not have to indicate as you are continuing along the same road.

That said, because no one on this island knows how to drive, I would indicate whether going either left or right.

No it wouldn’t. A person pulling into traffic when it’s unsafe would cause an accident.

If someone proceeds on the road they’re already on- North Shore- you’re saying they have to indicate to say they’re staying on the same road? Nonsense!

Indicators are wise to use whichever way you’re going there but one should not suggest you’d be causing an accident if you don’t indicate that you’re going to stay on the path you’re already on!

No if someone doesn’t indicate, you don’t assume they’re going on middle road. If anything I would assume they’re staying on the road they’re already on- north shore. But in reality you don’t assume anything- you wait until it’s safe to come out. That’s the problem.

But any reasonable driver would use their indicators.

I can’t speak to the cause of this collision but no one indicates anymore even on simple turn offs along the road. But ESPECIALLY on this junction, it’s prevalent. I live in the area and I always wait at that stop and make sure no vehicle is coming down North Shore road simply because no one coming from that direction indicates where they are going unless they continue right.

I stand to correct this person you only indicate to go on to north shore. Middle road is a straight way and it’s no need to indicate. Now if you indicate to go to middle road and turn to go to north shore would cause and accident
