Yes – I want all the true facts to come to light. The fact that land was taken in order to protect the free world from Nazis. It was a different time and place and landowners were compensated. It happened all over the UK as well. To whole villages. The fact that land in Tucker’s Town was swampland before becoming common land. Let’s all have a lesson in history. Some of it’s not pretty, but it’s history.

This organization does absolutely nothing to encourage and promote race relations in Bermuda. They are living and operating in the past and if they wish to assist in race relations then they need to promote modern dialogue as it relates to modern relationships. We are living on an island that has a majority black population and a black government. It is time to adapt your thinking CURB and apply it to current conditions.

See now I read an article once written by a Bermudian about truckers town, who admitted starting their research with a bias view in favour of those who were “dispossessed”, but was surprised to find that many who were “disposessed” were happy to take the money or land provided to them that was closer to town.

I read a different piece of research that detailed the landowner with the largest plot and who held out the longest against the compulsory purchase was a white farmer.

So my question is what is the purpose of this investigation? Will it give an honest account of the view at the time or will it give the account of descendants who see the multi million dollar houses that did not previously exist and reckon they are entitled to a further piece of the pie.

Finally will it encompass the what was the previously environmentally protected land in the same area for which the government issued special development orders to build luxury housing?

Based on what CURB has said, and what the Premier has said, the COI will likely take many years and cost millions of dollars to allow for all the unvalidated stories and innuendos to be heard, unless the COI restricts itself to requiring documentation. Even then, what if the findings don’t give people the answer they want to hear? Remember the crusade by the PLP against fronting? It was widespread yet only one case went to court. Maybe the findings were too awkward for the wrong people. This Inquiry may have the same result.
