I’m not defending the people at Mangrove Bay by any stretch, just suggesting that police may not be able to sanction those people if their bottles are ‘covered up’. On public urination or littering, may be worthwhile to ask police to regularly check the area.

Unsightly furniture of all sorts left about , coolers and even a Christmas tree with lights in December . Unquestionably public drinking going on and everyone knows it. “Restroom ?” Across the road behind the bus shelter.
Would that be allowed in any other ‘public park’ areas ? Your impressions are way off base.

If you’re referring to Mangrove Bay area, it’s probably not considered loitering because of the public park status? I get the impression that if there’s no open consumption of alcohol in bottles etc there’s nothing police can do about it anyway.

I don’t consider it blame shifting .
We have laws against both loitering and drinking in public yet in the west end there’s a spot right on the main road where people lay about and drink publicly all day , and it seems to be celebrated. And it’s only 100 yards away from the west end police station. What is going on here ? Mr Corbishley , any explanations ?
If they were toking up in public what would your opinion be then ? Oh, that’s right , we know .

Sadly, this is one of the last decisions of the former Liquor Licencing Authority. The new Liquor Licencing Authority is political and will not hold certain places to account in the way the former Liquor Licencing Authority did.

I think the curfew is a great idea who even thought of that is very Clever.

all that is needed is for the establishment to be monitored. if they preform well with the time slot they have they can apply to have it extended in 1 hour increments. At the same time the establishment should work on a way to manage the crowds as the night come time gets later and people get drunker.

If I was them i would hire someone to just watch the crowd because thinks normally happen in the later hour if they have people watching the crowd they can defuse things remove instigators . instigators are a big thing. if you remove the instigators most of the time things wont reach the boiling point. but you have instigators they are looking for entertainment at other peoples expense . instigators are male and female have some one mingling in the crowd to stop the instigators.

You know it occurred to me that we spend all this time enforcing clubs and bars and restaurants, but when was the last time you saw a cop approach a bum sitting in public and take away their booze? I was stuck in traffic on Front Street yesterday and the language this one bum was yelling at the other bums was disgusting! Tourists everywhere (except the benches because the bums had those). It is not a one off event and I think these bums need to be cleared from the streets you know they are drunk and you can take a good guess where they are getting the booze from. We have laws about being drunk and disorderly in public so let’s use them.

The Liquor Licensing Authority MUST hold ALL clubs similarly. Such restrictions on ALL clubs and pubs, hold the owners and proprietors 100% accountable. This has got to be in place as it relates to uniformity and non-discrimination policies.
