Makes sense too as it wouldn’t cost as much as last time as Cross Island is built and available. The infrastructure is already here. The PLP don’t want high net worth people coming here spending money and giving employment to Bermudians. They’d rather have a few minor golf players to play a par 3 course in Southampton.

Morgan’s Point is privately owned, Cross Island is public. Would you have supported the OBA handing over tens of millions of dollars to the owners of Morgan’s Point? Of course not, you would been outraged. You defeated your own argument.

It’s not in Bermuda because the PLP said NO. That’s it. Anything that even remotely supports the suggestion that the AC was good for Bermuda will be given the cold shoulder. Even if that is to Bermuda’s detriment.

That’s the point! This is not happening in Bermuda so Cross Island is not being used! We never needed it as we had Morgan’s Point who could have used the injection of capital from AC but the Milkman and Gibbons killed that and now look where Morgan’s Point is! Cross Island was a money maker for OBA friends and family!

Attracting sailing races such as this to the island means Cross Island would be put to good use as it was intended to which doesn’t fit the PLPs narrative concerning the project.

Sail GP announced on June 8th. Bermuda as Event Partner, obviously Russell Coutts did a last minute sales job to get BTA to do more advertising in NYC. With PGA and now SailGP, BTA is looking more like the old BDoT!!!

Makes no sense to me? What does Bermuda get from this? It seems like we are running around trying everything and not getting people to Bermuda? What about a seat sale or free night for every 5th night on Island via a BTA subsidy? Cmon guys just marketing don’t fill seats!

I’ll bet Bermuda was asked to be a venue but received the cold shoulder. At least the BTA is keeping Bermuda’s name out there even if the PLP won’t support it. Instead of this event taking place, the PLP have embraced the BTA spending $15m over 5 years on a golf game. Four days max. a year, and a few spectators given free tickets.
