You doubt that you’re taking that position?
Or that grants help bands to go on tour in other jurisdictions?
Because I’m a musician, in that industry and I know that they do and I’ve told you this several times.

Now, do you have anything that shows that grants aren’t allowed to be used to help tours?

Or is this just you making things up?

They do grants for festivals, tours, creating music, creating art, gallery shows… a whole bunch of stuff.

the point is that the money for the arts council came from “taxpayers funds” and has done for a while now…

Thus proving “this is not what taxpayer funds are for” as incorrect.

Tours cost money. A lot of money. And they don’t always pay off, sadly.
And a hit on the gospel charts is amazing, but isn’t the huge money maker people think it is, especially in this day of streaming.
I have a friend who had 600,000 stream of her album… her entire album!… and made $350 or so for it.
Last year Peter Frampton tweeted “For 55 million streams of, ‘Baby I Love Your Way’, I got $1,700.”

Any help musicians and entertainers can get is sorely needed.

I just hope the Government will keep going with this kind of thing for ALL of Bermuda’s entertainers!

I’m sorry but while ai am happy for these two. I don’t understand why they were given $15 . Their song has hit #1 which I trust means they are getting paid? They are also going on tour which would mean they would also get paid. While they are Bermudian they are not specifically going to represent Bermuda, promote Bermuda Music or culture or even promote Bermuda.

This is not a case of promoting the arts or a case where they need a hand up. They have made it to #1! There is no better exposure. Would we give Collie Buds money? Maybe we have – I don’t know. But if we did I think that is wrong too.

I am confident that they two are in a place where their musics popularity is enough to keep them going.

In comparison.our gold medal winning para athelete, Ms Lewis that represented her COUNTRY as an amateur athlete (meaning unpaid) was only awarded $10K.

Our Bermuda football team got paid by minister Desilva out of his own pocket! So please fill…I am happy and proud of these guys – but I struggle to figure out how this is fair . Someone explain how the payout system works?

I think it’s along the lines of supporting the arts. So it could be musicians, artists, etc who may get grants to assist them (and potentially lead to their success inspiring other locals?)
