the international airport authority changed airport security rules after 9/11 and gave all airports 20 years to upgrade, and rebuild if necessary, to meet the heightened security regulations. Any airport that doesn’t meet these regulations can be refused service. That means that the US, UK and Canada can refuse to accept flights to or from Bermuda.

Leave it as Bermuda (whatever ) airport and be done with it. It’s relevancy remains intact forever as opposed to naming it after some individuals who are meaningless to 95% of the people who will use it now and in the future .

At the Tourism Summit, BTA is in favor of funding airlines to increase the flights into the new airport that was on time and on budget. BTA didn’t comment on BA’s study that confirmed ‘seat sales’ did not increase the number of butts in the seats on Bermuda flights. The new airport will be an impressive facility but buying seats will not make it a tourist attraction.

What I would like prefer to hear about, Michela, is are there actually 445 full-time jobs ongoing during the construction phase as promised by Richards in the 2016 Airport Document? Are we on-time? Are we on-budget? Please update us on these important questions.

Consideration to renaming the airport should be given. It should actually be named WADE/RICHARDs Terminal. This will maintain the honour and respect of L
.F Wade as well as pay homage to Bob Richard’s for his innovative vision which resulted in major opposition by the than opposition party,who piggy backed on said opposition to become now the government of the day.
