Now YOU listen up. Staying home for 2 weeks to flatten the curve is reasonable, being in lockdown for “weeks if not months” as you suggest is completely asinine. The Government CANNOT afford to be sending out checks every week to all of these people who have lost their jobs, they are doing it for 3 months, but it can’t go on indefinitely. The majority of people will NOT require hospitalization because of this virus. And I’ll remind you, that those who’ve lost their jobs have also lost their health insurance. If they get sick how do you expect them to pay for hospital care if they need it? And how do you expect to keep the hospital running with less and less people paying for it? The hospital is more in danger of being underfunded than overwhelmed at this point.

You are delusional if you think Bermuda can get this 100% under control. It is here to stay. There will ALWAYS be cases, every season, even if a vaccine is developed 18 months from now. So you think people should give up their livelihood and freedom for 18 -24 months in hopes of a vaccine that MAY work? Ridiculous!

The most vulnerable such as seniors and immuno-compromised should remain at home for the time being, if YOU want to stay in your house, do so, but the rest of Bermuda should be allowed back at work with reasonable social distancing in place.

The Regulations were amended last week to make it effectively mandatory that you attend the closest store:

“Amends regulation 3

Unfortunately, that is the only thing that will work here. Saturday I saw a lady rubbing her eye, then picking up a block of cheese and then putting it back for the next person. And all the cheeses are stacked together, so if she was positive, the virus is now on all the cheeses for everyone else to buy. Y’all won’t be happy until everything is shut down. This is not about the elderly. This is about your hospital. Do you use the hospital? If you break your leg and they can’t let you in the door because there are too many COVID-19 patients in there, what are YOU going to do? If you have a heart attack during the peak crisis because the Premier sent everyone back to work, what are YOU going to do?

Do you realise that around the world doctors are having to chose who gets treated and who doesn’t?

Everyday since we have had 6 distancing all the people that walk along Crow Lane are side by side. Some sit in the park near Rance’s. We are at the point where people disobeying the premiere should be heavily fined. Some ignorant, selfis, inconsiderate fools are spoiling it for those of us staying in the house. Stop them now. Also put some kind of mark or sign on houses where people are quarantined to be sure the stay inside. Some people with money probably think they can buy their way out of the situation. Nope. You can’t lock people up in their homes forever. It’s not practical. Let the elderly and vulnerable stay in shelter at home, but everyone else needs to go back to work SOON. If Government tries to extend this for 2 more weeks, they will soon have bigger problems on their hands to worry about than the virus.
