I agree. Stop using the race card. Stop playing the victim. Every successful black man proves this excuse is wrong. Stop blaming everyone else. These men know chopping someone up is wrong. These men know murder is wrong.

Much too easy for Mr Burt to blame the recent acts of violence on racial disparity. He conveniently ignores the elephant in the room; abysmal parenting and the frequent absence of a father in the house. There are numerous examples of black Bermudians making great strides in every professional field and I would wager that most of them have had two parents in the house and have had a good work ethic instilled in them from an early age. The vast array of scholarships and the multitude of mentoring opportunities available during summer vacations make success a real possibility for all Bermudians with the right attitude. Choosing to join gangs and sell drugs is another, initially easier, choice but it comes with consequences.
