We can all remember the last PLP Inspired corporation in Hamilton led by the token trust fund baby – the fiasco of the Black Mayors Conference, unsavory law suits and very generous expense accounts for all the hand picked councilors. Rinse and repeat if the colonel gets his way.

Folding anything into a PLP run government and civil service in the name of efficiency is laughable and an insult to our intelligence.

Just say what you mean, you need the money.

I am usually pro PLP but I cannot disagree with you on this. Change is good but if it is not broken why fix it. To be honest The Corporations are functioning better than any government that has been in place.

I forgot that and you are correct. The Minister in charge of keeping the roads clear of potholes and weeds is failing miserably. Bermuda looks like a run down and derelict island. Overgrown sidewalks, weeds destroying the roads and sidewalks. Increasing the costs to repair when prevention is cheaper. Who is the Minister? Of course the very same Lt Col Burch. Can’t do his own job properly but wants to take the 2 Corporations down to his level.

They’re broke. They need the assets to borrow against, they need the tax revenue and they need the dock revenue. They couldn’t give a toss about St Geo that’s just blister from the bad tempered Minister.

It’s Hamilton they want, and of course it serves as another way of getting even. What better way to finally stick the boot in than tax the s&^t out of Hamilton business owners.

I see a “land grab” by the Government in our future

Hamilton – beautiful and well kept Parks, trash collected EVERY day, streets swept early EVERY morning, City Hall beautifully maintained.

Outside Hamilton – attempts to agriculturally beautify roundabouts are laughable, trash piled up on the sides of the road, litter everywhere, derelict government owned buildings (old Teen Services building by Tennis Stadium is disgusting).

So, tell me again – why are you dismantling something that works, while you cannot even manage your own remit?

So consolidating 2 Corporations into the Government will mean you will either still have the same duplications or will be firing a lot of Bermudians. What is the real benefit apart from a money and asset grab by the Government? For example when W&E garbage collection stops, the 2 Corporations step in to help out. Bermuda will lose that benefit.
While he is about it what is he doing to reduce the duplications in Government staff, and the number of MPs? Bermuda is way overstaffed in the Government arena.
