How many peoples have left the island as comparison to 73 added so how the economy is affected it’s not gain it just balancing the people who left the island,they were paying rent,buying groceries,paying taxes.

You are correct however you have to appreciate this is a small step in the right direction.

That said hopefully this step will lead them to the big issue like you mentioned surrounding immigration and the impact this has on the island. Reviewing and decision timeline on a work permit is unworkable and is causing international business to hire elsewhere or when an employee leaves the island the company retains them as a contractor.

Lets be honest, the spending by 73 (or even 190) people will do little to recover the lost revenue of the 1,000′s of residents who have left the Island in recent years whether due to archaic immigration laws or the COVID-19 lock-down.

Ok. But how does allowing 73 foreigners to come here and work remotely create jobs for Bermudians? Are you thinking of the house-keepers?

I will however give the PLP Government credit for following Barbados and introducing this measure. It does have economic value.

70 actually residing here or just using a digital residency? The America’s Cup had many hundreds living here for several years, including families, yet that was derided by the PLP. The AC also created many local jobs in many areas over the 3 years it took place, another fact the PLP ignores.

“unprecedented job shortage” let’s all stand and clap for the PLP. The COVID works well for you as it gives you a good excuse for your past failings and many are too forgetful or too ill-informed to know that there is a much bigger picture of why we are where we are.
