Then please, tell us. What have the PLP done for you? All I see is a crumbling economy, empty offices, vacant stores, more and more homeless people, more beggars on the streets.

Buildings are actually being demolished, not new ones being built. The only one that is was awarded without following the legally mandated tender process, to a company outside Bermuda. How does that help you??

So go on, you tell me. What have the PLP actually achieved?

Cannonier made a mistake, sure, but how much exactly did it cost Bermuda’s taxpayers? Nothing.

What the PLP don’t want people to remember, is that the days up to 1998 were a proper democracy. The UBP had backbenchers who stood up to and disagreed with decisions by Cabinet. They had a backbone and did what they thought right. Since 1998 the PLP has a full compliment of zombies. Follow the leader and do not disagree. If you disagree you are a traitor and you will be unemployed and unemployable. The PLP is a Dictatorship.

Shortly after the PLP have won the General Election, and they will, the Finance Minister will announce a new budget. There will be more taxes on Bermudians to pay for the debt and preserve Government jobs. Rents will be hard hit, easy money, Government jobs will be cut and pay cut. The $150 million savings this year will have to be continued. Taxes will increase on all areas of consumption.

Guess who will be hit the hardest – their voting base but it will be too late.

this is the PLP’s track record. Does anyone truly believe it will get any better?
* New and increased taxes that have hit small Bermudian businesses in particular.
* prices increase thanks to the sugar tax and an increase in the foreign currency purchase tax. (no sugar tax money has gone to health initiatives, as promised.)
* 200 jobs gone – pre-covid – in retail which has suffered an alarming slump in sales volume which the PLP has been unable to fix
* negligible GDP growth pre-covid which has only been sustained over the last 3 years by projects such as the airport
* promises of much need comprehensive immigration reform broken.
* blacklisting
* a Canadian firm running the solar project at the Finger
* a housing corporation taking over a hotel complex and paying for alterations.
* broken promises on budget surpluses or a balanced budget
* no progress on gaming
* 31 fintech jobs (in 3 years) with none of the MOUs coming to fruition
* 3 years – 2 finance ministers, 3 tourism ministers, 3 gaming ministers, 3 immigration ministers.
no new bus schedule
* an untendered deal for an arbitration centre that we do not know any financial details of.
* increased civil servant jobs
* increased ministerial payroll, even as people suffered under covid
* the hiring of F&F consultants
* a $1.2 million F&F payment
* no living wage (as promised – in fact with the FCPT and sugar tax, quite the opposite)
* no cuts in the cost of living (as promised)
* a $1 billion increase in debt in one year (with no idea what the interest repayments are.)

Salaries have gone down, costs to live have gone up, through things like sugar tax, increased government fees, like TCD,, land tax. Payroll tax has increased too. Even the PLP Ministers earn less because of a pay cut. Oh wait you are right, they pocket the same money Before the cut and form part of the most expensive cabinet of minister this island has ever had.

Whoever is taking the profits from suppling all these tests and the costs to us taxpayers for the tests re COVID 19 is rolling in money too. This is a closed shop, we know little to nothing about the costs, or who is benefiting, also we know nothing as to are the testing facilities been audited. Yay 800 tests done. When we only had capacity for a couple of hundred before. Are the numvpbers real, or is someone taking Bermuda for a ride. We don’t know. Transparency with this government does not exist. Remember it was promised.

In 15 years we should have 3 general elections, I.e. One every 5 years)
costing a 1 million dollars each . So that is 3 million dollars in total.

If we have them every 3 years, there will be 5 general elections, at 1 Million dollars each, which totals 5 million dollars.

Over the same period we throw away 2 million Dollars more than we Have to. Burt Is talking about saving 30 thousand dollars a few times is absolute nonsense. Compared to the millions. How foolish does he think Bermudians are?

I can and many people I speak to are.
Some have taken a few steps backward this year but that was largely due to COVID not the government.

These are two great candidates and their rollout was refreshing.

We have to pay for a general election regardless. So, wouldn’t it be cheaper to not have to pay for the by-elections? Please explain your math as to why by-elections + general election are cheaper than just general election?

this is a Government that has now added $520 million to our debt but complains about the cost of a byelection!!! Where has that money gone – where are the new buses? why haven’t our students got internet access – why isn’t it subsidised?
