Dale, no one is say that the Govt shouldn’t support the clubs. It’s obvious the clubs give value to their communities. It’s the timing; this happens a week before an election that, I’m willing to wager, the majority of Bermudians are not exactly excited about. It just reeks of political orchestration and showmanship. It’s not leadership. This could have been done at any other time of the year.

Was the $350K taxpayer money? The answer is no, but whatever happened was shady I’ll give you that. So this story is about large amounts of money being handed out right before an election. This from a government that cannot afford to repair busses or properly educate our children. Think about that.

These are grants from Government, not the PLP and so could have waited until after the election. That Premier Burt has made the grants before the election is clearly to influence voters. In a modern and civilised world, that would be deemed illegal.

Never satisfied. It used to be if the Govt paved roads folks would say an election is coming. Club needs were only brought to the forefront after Rolf Commissiong wrote his excellent report on Clubs. A report that should be club household reading. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time they have been able to benefit based on the foundation laid by that report.
