No, this is about control. People HAVE largely been compliant, less than 1% of travellers coming to the Island are positive, but you can’t control a virus this way. It will do as it pleases. Mask mandates and strict rules don’t work. We also need to be very suspicious of this “uptick” a lot of these are false positives.

I don’t think so. Cases are rising because people aren’t doing what they’re supposed to and haven’t for a long time. It was only a matter of time and that time has come. You see it all over social media. Parties, boats, clubs, family and office get-togethers etc. People mingling in close proximity not wearing masks. Those people then mingle with others and so on.

Masks reduce droplet dispersion which reduces the probability the wearer transmits to others, it doesn’t mean the probability goes to zero. If someone has the virus and doesn’t wear a mask, they could give it to people wearing masks. Since people are contagious before symptoms, it’s harder to deal with the virus when people don’t wear masks and social distance.

I’ve been wondering the same thing for years . Surely they see the same outrageous lunacy we do every time they’re on the roads , but why does nothing change ?
I’ve come to the conclusion that they’re all related and are afraid to confront their family and be seen as a snitch , or they’re terrified of them for reasons that us , the general public , will never know but would be very scared if we did know !
But in the past it hasn’t been unknown for cops themselves to have had illegal window tint , non regulation license plates or drive around with the box booming like everyone else so they probably see nothing unusual in the first place.

Why can’t they police the roads in the same way? While most are obeying the laws and common sense there is a growing number where the the driving “standards” have becoming atrocious, especially for bikes. 65 – 70kph seems the norm now, plus overtaking with oncoming traffic and on blind bends. No enforcement seems the norm now.
