I have snorkeled and dived in Bermuda’s waters for over 50 years. The decline in marine life over the past 20 years has been staggering. There are very few fish left in coastal waters and the game fish stocks on the banks will not last much longer. To suggest a fishing cooperative “to significantly increase Bermuda’s annual local catch” is the height of ignorance. This initiative by the Bermuda Government, BEDC and BTFC highlights just how out of touch those bodies are with sustainable and progressive approaches to natural resources.
