I vaguely remember a guy appearing in court a long time ago charged with something like ‘obstructing police duties’. He was caught by radar and so annoyed he parked a quarter of a mile away , got out of his car and started physically and verbally warning people of the radar ahead. The radar unit in question noticed that suddenly all the traffic was going slow and they went up the road to investigate and caught him in the act.

Why broadcast the operation in advance? Will the BPS now announce where speed traps are? Potential violators will merely avoid the area. Is this also proof the RFID is no longer operational, and if so when did the taxpayers stop paying for it?
Not sure about unlicensed cars but bikes are all everywhere, just walk down a line of parked bikes or look at the plates at a traffic light.

BPS – What’s the point of this exercise when you have just told everyone where you will be and at what time? So if you have a dodgy number plate, heavy tinted windows or are uninsured etc, just get the bus from St. George’s on Wednesday. You’ll be back on the road on Thursday. SMH

Was it actually ever an offense to flash your lights to warn of a radar trap or is it just an urban myth? Could you stand 50 or so yards away from one with a sign “radar ahead”? I’m asking since the cops pre warn drunk drivers and people who drive unlicensed and uninsured vehicles themselves.
