Correlation is not causation.

You seem to imply that more vaccines imply more cases, just because both (in Bermuda) coincided with the passage of time. Using the same logic, you could imply that extra cases happen because babies are being born or trees are growing.

A proper way to address this issue is to look at different places (Bermuda included). Chances of an unvaccinated person being infected are higher anywhere in the world. You mentioned Israel, which is a case in point (you can see Israeli data graphed here: https://www.ft.com/content/cf83b3a1-fe06-4c9f-999c-7500090aee7c)

Here you can see a plot of California counties: more vaccines means less hospitalizations - there's a direct correlation. (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/15/briefing/gavin-newsom-recall-covid-referendum.html)

There are hundreds of studies like this, everywhere in the world. There is also anedoctal evidence (flawed as is) - cases are falling steadily in South America, Delta was controlled in highly vaccinated places such as Portugal, Denmark and San Francisco, etc

For Bermuda, this can be easily calculated. Assuming 66% vaxxed and 34% unvaxxed, with the most recent numbers of local transmission (28% of the cases were fully vaccinated), basic math shows that, so far, vaccinated persons are about 80% less likely to develop a symptomatic infection, which is pretty much on par with the rest of the world.

There is so much data on this, from so many different countries, with different researchers, different political views, geopolitical interests and what not.

The only ways to misunderstand this data is to have little information or little training on how to analyze that information. If one haven't had access to the studies or isn't well acquainted with statistics, maybe one should be careful about the limits of overconfidence.

Vaccines are an effective tool, just as they were against smallpox, measles, polio, etc. The Covid-19 vaccines in particular are some of the most well-researched substances in history, more than most meds and types of food.

Again:

LOL, I took your suggestion and read up on the Israeli situation across a variety of sources. I think the best and most approachable summary is this one:

https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/08/20/1029628471/highly-vaccinated-israel-is-seeing-a-dramatic-surge-in-new-covid-cases-heres-why

I would encourage people to read this, it is not too long, but will pull out a couple key statements:

1 – ” the rate of serious cases among unvaccinated people over age 60 (178.7 per 100,000) was nine times more than the rate among fully vaccinated people of the same age category”

2 – “only 58% of Israel’s total citizenry is fully vaccinated. Experts say that’s not nearly high enough.”

3 – “Israeli national HMO Maccabi Healthcare Services, which conducted the preliminary study of 149,144 Israelis who received three Pfizer shots, said for Israelis above age 60, a Pfizer booster shot reduced the chances of infection by 86% and reduced the chances of severe infection by 92%.”

I do not see how any of this suggests that vaccinated people spread the disease as much as unvaccinated.

I absolutely agree that vaccination does not stop transmission but there is a really good UK study demonstrating that even one dose reduces it by 50% with an indication that the second dose improves that.

LOL, I support your view that people should review data from other countries. I just think you need to read all of it.

It was reported by the world health organization that 95% of all people who died from covid had 3-4 other diseases such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension and dementia.

That would mean only 5% actually died from covid. Wouldn’t it make more sense to campaign living a healthier lifestyle than a vaccine that’s on a live trial?

Suggestion: Pay $50 to everyone who can lose 10 pounds of body fat in a calendar year. You already paid $50 to take the vaccine. You see how much healthier we have become because of that.
