Correct, micro beads are “MICRO”, but they are also not captured by most wastewater treatment systems. If washed down the drain after use, they can end up in our ocean.

These tiny plastics persist in the environment and have a damaging effect on marine life, the environment and human health. This is due to their composition, ability to adsorb toxins and potential to transfer up the marine food chain.

There is plenty of literature available on the damage microbeads do to our environment.

Buzz and some other take-outs were selling re-usable containers pre-covid. Just wash and bring back again next time, like refillable coffee mugs and re-usable cutlery that many stores sell.
I guess we’d all have to get used to taking them back, like the re-usable shopping bags that seem to disappear in our house or be left in the car.

Products containing micro-plastics [e.g. industrial abrasives used in sandblasting, household abrasives that contains micro-beads and facial scrubs and other cosmetics that contains micro-beads]. What the harpoon does facial and cosmetic products have to do with pollution???? The micro-beads are just that, MICRO. Who at Spit Bouy thought of this one..

There are eco-friendly alternatives. It may, though increase price, as the sugar tax did. Could be an area for government to consider duty-free, or lower duty on these items.

Other places in the world use a thin cardboard like material with a wax coating for all their takeout boxes. Works the exact same and doesn’t get soggy.
