As I mentioned elsewhere, it’s a disgusting first world discussion – personal choice to be vaccinated. People are dying for lack of vaccines. Grow up. Get the jab.

Personally, those that willingly don’t get vaccinated, they can take their chance as far as I’m concerned. I don’t care about them. But it’s not going to be pretty because we have an unhealthy society.

You hit the nail on the head.

We have 30% of the population unvaccinated, that’s 18,000 people. The obesity rate 35%, and 75% of us are overweight. I would suggest that the venn diagram of obesity and non-vaccination is pretty close to being concentric circles, and if not the overlap will be significant.

That’s what Wilson and the Government are afraid of. While Omicron is less severe for the rest of us, a prolonged “wave” is not going to be pretty.

In reality the active cases could easily be 10 times what’s listed here. But many people are either not getting tested or have done a lateral flow and just missed a few days of work. Who can blame them. No one in their right mind will quarantine for 7-10 days.

Case numbers are becoming irrelevant as folks are home antigen testing and not reporting positive results. Just hope everyone is staying home the required amount of time. Hospitalizations and deaths are the only factual statistics. Also, The Health Ministry should be pumping out advertising that the symptoms of Omicron are similar to a cold and maybe mild or quite heavy. Folks don’t realize what appears to be a common cold is actually Omicron and they are very contagious.
