The idea of growing more here is very attractive, and should be, but because of the low scale of production, costs are higher than for imported goods. Why are carrots so expensive? A bunch of large ones works out around $1 each. Corn around the same. Fish is way more expensive than imported, which brings up why the Government wants to spend money on a fish processing plant. It isn’t to reduce costs to the consumer.
