Why do Bermudians take on other cultures??? HAHAHAH

We are a melting pot of many cultures and can trace our heritage back to having very strong roots to our family in the Caribbean. Males sense??

Blame the powers that be at Govt for not making National Heroes Day into something more prominent than what it is. It was a great idea poorly executed by the then-and-now-current government.

Nobody has said that Crop Over festivals in Barbados are disrespectful to Emancipation Day and its events, for example. They’ve co-existed for decades without bother.

Would it be nice for the Carnival promoters to incorporate National Heroes into its events? Certainly. But that’s never been their remit and it probably shouldn’t be either, all things considered and noting that honouring National Heroes should be a bit more solemn.

Carnival is Mardi Gras. It should be on Shrove Tuesday. There’s no cultural history of Carnival in Bermuda.

I love Carnival and really support it. I especially love Raft Up. But can’t J’Ouvert be someplace further from so many residential houses? Last year my walls, windows, shelves, floors were SHAKING from 3am to 6am. I had to work the next day and was not happy. Wasn’t it at Clearwater the first year?

I still don’t know why we as Bermudians are taking on other cultures. Carnival on heroes weekend is just straight up disrespectful. Our children are losing sight as to why we celebrate.
