All the training in the world cannot make someone take on responsibility. My family is full of people who just want to work and do not want to take on such responsibility.

The current head of BHS is a born Bermudian (not in the PLP Government sense though) and she will be sorely missed. I am sure that the trustees would have hired a Bermudian if one could be found who (a) was qualified and (b) wanted the job. Sometimes jobs go to ex pats because no Bermudians apply.

Our children should have access to the best teachers in the world. It doesn’t matter where they come from. The first and only consideration should be the best interests of the children.

Ms. Swanson sounds duly qualified. However, I’m left to ponder. Are there no qualified Bermudian educators/administrators on this Island? Seems we used to have Bermudians in such positions and now those in charge seem to think they have to select from abroad.

I hope the Department of Immigration says hold up a minute and really look at this one before giving it a stamp of approval.
