CG National Criterium Championships Results
The CG Insurance National Criterium Championships was held this weekend, with many of the island’s top cyclists in action.
A spokesperson said, “Men’s Open Championship was a heated battle between Conor White, Tyler Smith, Alex Pilgrim and Nicholas Pilgrim. Rain fell on the track early in the race, leaving the corners slick and the riders cautious in the corners, but as the track dried, the competition heated up as the four riders could not get away from each other. The race came to the final sprint, with Nicholas Pilgrim edging Conor White on the finish line for the Championship title.
“Gabby Arnold took early control of the Women’s Open and never looked back. Second place came down to Ashley Cooper and Jenifer Lightbourne, with Cooper maintaining her edge to take second.
“In the Masters’ category, Steven Smith and Tracy Wright rode a close race right down to the finishing stretch, where Smith put in a final kick and powered down the finish stretch to take the clear win.
“Junior Male and Female Championships Cameron Morris and Annabelle Miller rode impressive rides taking the titles.”
