Ms Bell is an independent member of the Senate. What you appear to be saying is that you do not believe that independent Senators are actually independent (or, perhaps, should not be).

Ms Bell is a proven lawyer, judge and company director. Her professional accomplishments should speak for themselves.

I do not recall such questions when Alf Oughton or James Jardine were made independent Senators. Why now. Because Ms Bell is female?
