Apologies, perhaps I wasn’t clear. I choose to shop online because on Saturday’s I’m enjoying a three martini lunch, playing golf or whatever. I don’t shop in Hamilton because there are better ways of using my time. If shops were open until 7:30pm, perhaps I might browse and shop after work. But they are not, so I cannot.

Local retailers, therefore, make a difficult situation much worse.

And, you don’t need to go anywhere to collect online orders, they get delivered these days.

No, you choose to shop on-line. It is convenient.

I choose to use the time on Saturday that many people use to collect their on-line shopping to go to shops that are not open on Sunday. Then I have time on Sunday to do my weekly shop, my weekly social experience at Gorhams and the like.

Yes….and no.

Hamilton stores need a slightly more European outlook. Open at 10:30 or even 11. Close at 7:30.

Apart from your correctly made point about volume of potential shoppers, choice of goods, and huge problem is that we’re all at work when shops are open. Hence we are forced to shop online regardless.

Quite apart from that not being correct, Bermuda has a resident population of just over 60,000 people. There are only so many people who shop. And there are only so many who shop locally. You cannot expect shops in Bermuda to keep American hours with such a limited population to cater to.

Bermuda’s shop owners know what they are doing. They have to balance the cost of staying open against sales revenue. For many shops in Bermuda, opening all day Sunday will increase the cost of doing business, but it may not increase sales revenue. It may simply spread weekend shopping over 2 days instead of only 1 day (Saturday).

Deadline was extended because nobody signed up lol. People are realizing nobody is going to pay $20+ for a handmade trinket they made at home. Harbor nights as it always has been just a place for teenagers to go to and hangout. Stores that should be open till 9 everyday isn’t something reserved for Harbor nights smh. All of the city should be open late but no everything is closed by 4:50 and closed on Sundays. Who exactly are these stores open for other than drug dealers who spend cash throughout the day? Because everything is closed by the time people with jobs get off lol
