A very bad deal for Bermuda. We are already paying Gencom through tax concessions to effectively get the best deal they possibly can. Why do we not negotiate and force a compromise? Gencom holds our hotel for ransom to get maximum profit, and threaten to walk out if they don’t get everything they want. THAT is not a business partner we want Bermuda. If we roll over on this and play the chump Gencom want us to be, another large area of open space and natural environment is lost forever. How much more can we lose on our already overdeveloped tiny island? There must be a fairer deal, if not with Gencom then with another developer (there are many out there). Bermuda will erode its brand image of exclusivity if we agree to deals like this which try to turn us into Miami beach. That will REALLY drive investors away.
