The court has upheld these stops when public notice is properly given and the tickets issued from those stops. Your rights in these checks are limited.

Your failure to comply with police instructions and cooperate gives them more cause to believe you have something to hide. You can be asked for proof of insurance, your vehicle registration, have you been drinking, and is that ganja I smell? Get out of the car…

I have my wife drive when the stops are being done to avoid conflict with the BPS as my attitude to such stops is similar to yours. Since my high-level BPS contact retired, dropping his name in the conversation no longer carries any weight.

If they say yes ask for what crime. Than remain silent. This is unlawful and against bermudas constitution. Never answer questions and always remain silent when speaking with police. Say no comment or I don’t answer questions. We as people pay the police salaries so they work for us. Records them if need to and always get their names and badge numbers. It’s in there policy to identify. I’ve been instructed by a lawyer to do just this here in Bermuda.
