In 2013 NOAA predicted there would be a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 11 named Atlantic hurricanes. There were only 2. The unmentioned margin of error ranged between 250% to 450%. No one at NOAA was fired.

Using real-time data and supercomputers, NOAA cannot accurately predict the path of the largest single weather event on the planet over a region out past 5-6 days, and still gets it wrong (Dorian 2019). But we must not question the predictions of global warming and global sea level rise for 2050 & 2100 using flawed data, improperly placed & poorly maintained equipment, and inaccurate models.

NOAA’s models running on supercomputers using real-time data failed to predict Dorian would stall over the Bahamas causing death and destruction (74 deaths, 245 missing, $3.4 billion in damages). NOAA predicted Dorian would cut across Florida. Then Dorian turned north and traveled up the east coast to Canada. Millions of Floridians were needlessly panicked. No one at NOAA was fired for this huge failure.
